Summary:
The Safety Manager provides leadership in the development, implementation and administration of operations safety policies that are in compliance with and support the company's safety programs and policies.
This position must be able to work with all levels of personnel to assist in the creation of specific approaches to improve safety while complying with all regulations.

Responsibilities:
Leads the plant leadership team in developing the plant's overall Safety Program.
Responsible for all aspects of safety, including OSHA, Illness and Injury Prevention, SDS, safety audits, and accident investigations; partner with other departments with workers' compensation, Risk Management Plan and Process Safety Management.
Planning, implementing, tracking, training, and supervising duties to ensure compliance with the company's safety program.
Including:
conducting and/or facilitating safety programs and OSHA required training and certifications, i.

, forklift, confined space, lockout/tagout, and CPR/First Aid training; conduct fire drills; perform new hire and annual safety training.
Support site crisis management program and support activities.
Support industrial injury/illness full life cycle claim management.
Assist and coordinate functions of the comprehensive Injury & Illness Prevention Program.
Oversee investigation of all site accidents/injuries; and as directed by the General Manager and/or Human Resource Manager regarding incident/accident reports, investigations, and log recordability.
Ensure compliance with Company, State, and Federal regulations and guidelines regarding occupational safety & health.
Perform safety survey audits and site inspections to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions.
Assist in the development of control systems for identified hazards including JHA, Pre-Task Plans, and environmental safety compliance.
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of policies, procedures, and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
Assist with the implementation and daily maintenance of compliance programs related to hazardous wastes, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Engage with Cross-Functional Leadership and Team Members to conduct safety talks, observe/correct non-compliances, eliminate hazards, and prioritize safety.
Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Experience with plant personnel to focus on safety, health, and environmental aspects of the business.
Experience with the development of a safety program.
Shown ability to adapt well to change and implementation of EH&S policies and procedures.
Experience on the shop floor to ensure EH&S needs are met for the team members of the company.
Experience with finding solutions.
Proven ability to train, guide and mentor others with less experience.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in occupational health & Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or in a related field, and/or the equivalent experience.
Five (5) or more years' experience, in a supervisory capacity leading environmental, occupational health and safety, preferably in wood manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and Workers' Compensation claim mitigation and management.
Proficiency in Microsoft office software Focus/results driven achiever with exemplary planning and organization skills.

Available to work on all shifts (when needed) to resolve issues and/or evaluate team members' environment.
Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma and/or Green Belt helpful.
BLS, LSP, OSHA 500 or 510 preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods working on feet, performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, stooping, twisting, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
Must be physically able to climb ladders or crawl into awkward spaces.
Must be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 20 pounds consistently.
Visual acuity is necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
